Iliya Lingorski is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, where he teaches courses in Economics for Climate Change and Management, Managerial Economics, Financial Markets, and International Financial Institutions. Previously, he held the position of Deputy Minister of Finance and Head of the State Treasury in the Saxe-Coburg Cabinet. In this capacity, he spearheaded negotiations with the European Commission on Competition Policy during Bulgaria’s accession negotiations to the European Union. Additionally, Iliya has held the positions of Alternate Governor for Bulgaria of the International Monetary Fund, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Encouragement Bank, Chief Economist of the Bulgarian Development Bank, and Management Board member of the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund. He served as a Trustee of the American University in Bulgarian from 2014 to 2017. In 2022, the President of the Republic of Bulgaria appointed him to the Governing Council of the Bulgarian National Bank.
