Eng. Martin Georgiev is CEO of National Electricity Company /Natsionalna Elektricheska Kompania/ EAD from May 2022. Deputy Chairman of the Bulgarian Branch Chamber of Power Engineers. In 2023 he was selected as Energy Person of the Year. In the period 2013-2022, he was the Chairman of the Association of Energy Traders in Bulgaria. He was Regional Manager for the Southern Balkans at Alpiq, a leading Swiss power generation and trading company, and a member of the Board of Directors of a joint venture between Alpiq and the Greek state energy company Public Power Corporation S.A. He previously worked as Key Account Manager at Aare-Tessin Ltd. for Electricity (Atel) at the holding's headquarters in Switzerland. Earlier in his career, he led the program "Restructuring and Liberalization of the Electricity Market in Bulgaria" together with the American University in Bulgaria. He consulted EON Energie Germany on the restructuring of their energy company in Bulgaria. He was involved in the rehabilitation project of Maritsa East 3 thermal power plant in 2004-2005. He holds an Executive MBA from the American University in Bulgaria and a Master's degree from the Faculty of Automation at the Technical University of Sofia. Certified spot trader by the European Energy Exchange (EEX). He is the author of numerous analyses, publications, and presentations on energy topics in Bulgarian and international media and a speaker at leading events. Fluent in English, German and Russian.
